Practice Drills (3 parts)

Pt3 Small Sided Games (20min)

• Monday 2 small games

  • Break up both teams in half for a total of four balanced teams

  • Have two simultaneous games of mixed teams with coaches supervising each game

  • You float between games and give direction and good feedback

  • One point for a goal and one point for a skill that you demonstrated in the foot skills section

  • End the game after 5-7 minutes and switch teams (you can choose to have winners play for gold medal and the others play for bronze

• Tuesday 3-Rotation

  • Break up players into three teams

  • One team (Team A) sits out but the game should move quick - as soon as one of the two playing teams scores, the other leaves the field and Team A replaces them.

    • While team A is out they do toe touches - Coach has to monitor them

• Thursday 2 small games

Updates

1. Abuse Prevention: Coaches and parents are required to observe and agree to fair treament of referees (here)

2. Refs will be required to pass a basic knowledge test as part of the referee clinic this year

3. Refs across all tiers get a $5 pay increase from last year

4. Refs receive an updated soccer badge for passing the basic knowledge test
